This 1939 Cape Cod home already had lasting character, from its Tudor-inspired detailing to its original wood front door and existing screened porch. The homeowners wanted to protect those beloved features while creating a more generous and comfortable connection to the outdoors.
Savvy Design Studio explored multiple schematic options before developing a wraparound porch and enlarged screened porch that felt natural to the home’s original architecture. A painted brick base grounds the new work and complements the existing house, helping the addition look integrated rather than imposed.
A 3D walk-through during Design Development allowed the homeowners to experience the new spaces before construction drawings were prepared, giving them confidence in the scale, flow, and feel of the design.
This porch transformation shows how thoughtful design can preserve the soul of an older home while making it more livable for the next generation.
